[0:00] USB-C has taken over the world
I think it's safe to say USB-C has taken over the world. We even saw Apple transition from Lightning to USB-C on their iPads, their iPhones, and even their MacBooks charge with USB-C. I think we're at a point where USB-C has found its footing as the universal cable, not only for data, but for charging.
[0:31] This adapter lets you replace any DC power adapter with USB-C
But with the evolution of technology there's an era of devices that gets left behind. There's a company by the name of Werewolf that makes a device called the VFLEX — it allows you to replace any DC power adapter with USB-C, bringing older devices into the modern age.
[1:42] How I put it to good use in my own life
Now you can use that one USB-C cable on your desk to truly power and charge all your devices, no matter how old they are.
[1:55] Features worth noting
Matthew Piccolo explores the VFLEX, a versatile adapter designed to convert traditional barrel connectors into USB-C. This device features adjustable voltage settings, the ability to read and identify power supply capabilities via a mobile app, and receives ongoing firmware support to enhance functionality for hardware enthusiasts and those working with legacy electronics.

[0:00] This is by far the coolest way to charge all your devices with USB-C.
[0:03] I think it's safe to say USB-C is taken over the world.
[0:05] I mean, we saw Apple transition from lightning to USB-C on their iPads or iPhones and then
[0:10] even their MacBooks charge with USB-C.
[0:12] I think we're at a point where USB-C has found its footing as being the universal cable
[0:16] not only for data but for charging.
[0:18] So you can have one cable like myself.
[0:20] I basically just have one cable out to charge all my devices.
[0:23] My microphone here is USB-C, my iPhone is USB-C, everything is USB-C.
[0:27] So I just have that one cable and I swap out and charge whatever device I want with
[0:31] that one cable.
[0:32] There's a company by the name of Werewolf that reached out and wanted to send me out
[0:34] one of their highlight products called the VFlex and this is a little adapter that takes
[0:39] any barrel connector that you could think of and then turns it to USB-C.
[0:43] I don't think I'll particularly have the target audience for this but I mean, I'm not going
[0:46] to pass up three stuff if they want to send it over, that's up to them.
[0:49] But after using it and putting it to good use in my own life and then seeing how it can benefit
[0:53] anyone else who's into hardware tinkering, messes around with old electronics, has a
[0:58] home lab.
[0:59] I can really see out something you could benefit from.
[1:00] If you're into messing around with old hardware like old radios, old mini TVs, anything
[1:05] that uses those DC barrel connectors, you know that you'll have to go and find one and it's
[1:10] always a mess to find.
[1:11] Like I remember messing around with some of these old electronics when I was a kid and I would
[1:15] always ask my dad like, where's the brick for this?
[1:18] Where's the power adapter for this?
[1:20] You got to hunt for that and then you got to end up going to an electronics store or
[1:23] getting one off Amazon.
[1:24] Back then I don't think we're used Amazon but you'd go to an electronics store and then
[1:27] you just buy like the most generic looking connector that fits and then it works.
[1:32] If you're into that corner hardware, you can already find adapters and wires on Amazon
[1:36] that allow you to power them with USB-C but they don't do it nearly as well and as cool
[1:41] as the V-Flex.
[1:42] I didn't do anything crazy with it.
[1:43] I just charged my PSP and powered a couple of lights but in using it I saw the real potential
[1:48] and the real effort that was put into making a product like this for a part of a market
[1:53] of people that tinker around and would want something like this.
[1:55] There's a couple of things I found really cool about this device.
[1:58] The first is that you can customize and set the voltage to whatever the device requires.
[2:02] So if I'm using it for my PSP, I set it to five volts and I use the appropriate connector
[2:07] and then it just works and it charges which is really cool because now I could just use
[2:10] my one USB-C cable that's on my desk, charge my PSP and any other old device that I decide
[2:15] to boot up.
[2:16] The second is the ability to read powered adapters.
[2:17] Now each brick has the ability to push out a certain number of volts and they can't just
[2:22] push out a random number like 13 so it'll be like 9, 12, whatever, right?
[2:27] But you don't know exactly what those are.
[2:30] What the V-Flex does is it allows you to read and see what voltages are compatible with
[2:34] that brick.
[2:35] By plugging into your phone and setting into reading mode with the app, you then plug it
[2:38] into your powered adapter.
[2:39] It'll collect all the information and then plug it back in your phone and you'll see the
[2:42] compatible voltages that that powered after supplies.
[2:46] I think that's a really big game changer for myself.
[2:49] Not that big of a deal.
[2:50] But for people that have all these electronics, these older electronics that use these barrel
[2:54] connectors, I feel like this is a feature that they would appreciate.
[2:57] The third and probably the most important is continued support.
[2:59] So you don't just receive this at your doorstep and then boom, they wash their hands of you.
[3:03] There's active development of new firmware for these things so you could plug them into
[3:07] your phone, check for firmware update and then update it straight from the app.
[3:10] And I think that's a really important thing because not only are they just developing the
[3:14] product, but they're actively trying to make them better.
[3:18] So you're giving them your money for this product and then they're like, okay, we're going
[3:21] to make sure that this thing you already bought, we already got the money, but we're going
[3:25] to make sure it keeps working and it works better.
[3:27] So I'm a fan of that.
[3:28] Like I said, I'm not the target audience for this.
[3:29] I just use it to charge my PSP and power a couple of lights.
[3:33] Maybe later down the line, we'll get into hardware stuff.
[3:35] But when I look at a product like this and see the quality and the level of detail they
[3:38] put into designing it, it's something that I feel like people who are into hardware and
[3:44] all in these oil electronics, I think they could benefit from something like this.
[3:48] The whole thing's made of aluminum.
[3:49] The wires don't feel cheap.
[3:50] When you select the wire you want and plug it into the V flex, it sits nicely.
[3:53] There's no jiggle.
[3:54] And the whole thing feels very refined.
[3:56] And especially it works.
[3:57] That's the most important thing is that it works.
[3:59] If you're someone that takes around with old electronics that use any of these DC adapters,
[4:02] I think even just getting one of these would benefit you because then you could just swap
[4:06] out whatever connector you need at the time and then power it with that one USB-C cable.
[4:10] One of them would probably make your work station and your life a whole lot easier.
[4:14] They even sell and sent out this universal adapter that I personally have no use for right
[4:17] now.
[4:18] But it's really cool that you can just manually plug into these and then use it to power
[4:21] basically anything you want.
[4:23] So that basically wraps up the video.
[4:24] This wasn't sponsored.
[4:25] This wasn't a collab.
[4:26] It's just something cool.
[4:27] I received a mail that I'm hoping finds the right audience because I do think for the
[4:30] right person this is a beneficial product.
[4:32] So I hope you enjoy.
[4:33] Let me know what you think in the comments below.
[4:35] Have you heard of this product?
[4:36] Is this something you'd consider?
[4:38] Do you have a home lab?
[4:39] If I'm trying to make a home lab, what are some things I would need?
[4:42] That'd be a really cool thing because maybe I'm going to get into hardware.
[4:45] I could see myself kind of going down that road.
[4:48] But anyways, thanks for watching.
[4:49] I hope you enjoyed.
[4:50] I'll catch you next video.
[4:51] Peace.
