[0:00] Hi, this video is going to be slightly different than my usual ones.
[0:05] You see, I get a lot of stuff in the mail, some of them I purchased, some are sending
[0:09] by various vendors, and most of the time I do dedicate a video for each of the items
[0:13] I received.
[0:14] But some of the items don't really need a dedicated video.
[0:17] So as a title of this video suggests, I'm going to go through some of the random stuff
[0:22] I have received, and I think you might be interested.
[0:25] The items I wanted to show you today are here on the workbench and they were sent in from
[0:29] a company called Weirwolf.
[0:31] It's a US-based company from Wisconsin.
[0:34] In fact, I lived there for quite a few years earlier in my life, and I can tell you it's
[0:38] really cold in winter.
[0:40] Anyway, I will leave a link in the video description below in case you are interested
[0:44] in any of the products I'm about to show you.
[0:47] Alright, the first item I'm going to show you is this VFLEX starter kit.
[0:52] As you can see here, it has quite a few of these supplied USB adapters inside, and these
[0:56] are called the VFLEX Face Adapters, and they can also be purchased separately.
[1:02] While you may ask what are these adapters for?
[1:05] The idea here is to convert the USB-C input into a DC output with the supplied adapters.
[1:11] And yes, if you look at the back of this case here, you can see that there are actually
[1:16] all these adapter cables supplied, which I'll show you a little bit later.
[1:20] So now the question is, how is it different from a USB-C decoy board like this one?
[1:26] You see for a typical USB-C decoy, you'll need to use the dip switch to program the desired
[1:30] output voltage.
[1:32] Now with the VFLEX adapters, you can actually use your smartphone to program the desired
[1:36] output voltage.
[1:37] Let me actually show you how that works.
[1:39] Alright, here I just took out one of the adapters, and also I just pulled a random cable
[1:45] out.
[1:46] It doesn't matter which one we're using, just for testing purpose.
[1:48] And you can see we have this key connector here, and let's actually zoom in.
[1:54] And each of the supplied cables also has this key counterpart, so we can actually plug
[1:59] in, let's see.
[2:00] Yep, and now we have plugged in securely, and let's actually put in a USB-C input, and you
[2:13] can see that we have this light lit up.
[2:16] And now the question is, what exactly is the output voltage?
[2:20] So let's take a look, and you can see it's actually five volts.
[2:28] So basically this is the default output, now let's take a look at how the program works.
[2:34] And I just plugged it into my smartphone, you can see we have this app called VFLEX, let's
[2:38] open it up.
[2:39] And you can see that the voltage is currently set at five volts.
[2:42] So let's actually take a look at what we can set.
[2:44] So let's say we want to set, I don't know, 15 volts.
[2:51] And now it's set to 15 volts.
[2:54] So now let me actually verify if the voltage is set indeed to the correct 15 volts.
[3:00] So now let me plug it into the USB.
[3:06] And again, it's showing green, so let's take a look at the output voltage.
[3:11] Yep, you can see now the output is set at 15 volts.
[3:18] So I guess that's pretty neat.
[3:21] You can see here actually the setting is non-volatile, so you can unplug it, and I plug
[3:26] it back in.
[3:30] Once it turns green, let's actually take a look.
[3:33] Yeah, you can see that it's still 15 volts.
[3:37] So with the supply, different adapters, I suppose you can program one of each into different
[3:42] voltages and use it that way.
[3:45] So let's actually try a different setting.
[3:47] So that was 15 volts.
[3:48] So let's come back here.
[3:50] Let's say we want to do 17 volts.
[3:52] Can we do that?
[3:53] I'm not sure.
[3:54] Is that the standard voltage?
[3:56] I don't know.
[3:56] Let's see.
[3:58] So we set it at 17 volts.
[3:59] Let's verify that.
[4:04] So I connected it with my USB source.
[4:06] Again, it's turning green.
[4:08] You can see the green light is on.
[4:09] Let's take a look.
[4:11] Yeah, we can.
[4:13] We can set to 17 volts.
[4:15] So I guess it does have some advantages over the standard USB-C decoy like this one, because
[4:21] you can set the output voltages pretty much arbitrarily.
[4:25] So that was 17 volts.
[4:27] Let's see if we can do, I don't know, let's say 10.5.
[4:35] Can we do that?
[4:36] Yeah.
[4:51] You can see that.
[4:52] We set it to 10.5 volts, and indeed, it's outputting 10.5 volts.
[4:57] So no problem at all.
[4:58] Now the concept is pretty cool.
[5:00] The only thing though is we don't have any indication on the device itself showing what
[5:04] the current voltage is.
[5:06] So you really have to double check before you plug it into your device.
[5:10] So that's one of the things I can see that could potentially be an issue.
[5:14] But regardless, the implementation here is actually quite unique.
[5:17] Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
[5:21] With all the supply adapters like this one, for example, you can actually plug in your
[5:24] own wires, and then these barrel adapters of different sizes definitely can fit in all
[5:30] the electronics that you have.
[5:33] So I think this is a pretty neat concept.
[5:35] Where will also semi-autjusted slim 70 watts power adapter?
[5:39] Let's open it up and take a look.
[5:56] Wow, the size of this actually I really like it.
[5:59] You can see it is very compact compared to most of the power adapters.
[6:04] It's really slim as its name suggests.
[6:07] And this can definitely come in handy for traveling.
[6:10] Now the only thing I would say is it doesn't have any USB-A output ports.
[6:15] So that could be a problem if you still have devices that require USB-A.
[6:19] It would be nice if you have a USB-A port built in.
[6:21] But nevertheless, this I think is a very slim travel adapter.
[6:27] So here's the spec you can see here.
[6:28] The combined output is maximum 70 watts, which is sufficient for most of the charging requirements.
[6:34] And the maximum output voltage, but look at it, is 52 watts.
[6:39] Where will also send in this magnetic charging USB power bank?
[6:42] It is a 10MR1.
[6:44] But my understanding is that it has built in wireless charging capability.
[6:48] Let's open it up and take a look.
[6:57] And here is the power bank.
[6:59] Again, it looks very slim as the name suggests.
[7:05] Does it have a magnet back there?
[7:06] I think it does.
[7:07] Well my phone is not an Apple, it's a Samsung.
[7:10] And it doesn't have the Qi-charging alignment magnet.
[7:12] So this exercise might be a little bit tricky.
[7:14] But we can still test it.
[7:16] Let's see.
[7:18] All right, here's a little bit of finicky.
[7:19] But you can see I can actually charge the phone wirelessly using the power bank.
[7:24] And of course, the alignment is going to be critical.
[7:27] And we don't have the alignment magnet.
[7:29] But nevertheless, you can see that it is actually working as desired.
[7:34] Let's actually do another test.
[7:36] Let's see if we can charge my earbuds.
[7:41] Now you can see, not sure if you can see the indicator here,
[7:45] is indeed being charged by this power bank.
[7:49] Very good.
[7:50] The capacity of this power bank is 10Mhz,
[7:53] and the maximum output power is 20W.
[7:55] Now that's not a whole lot,
[7:57] but it should be able to charge most of the phones with no problem.
[8:00] And the build quality is actually quite good.
[8:04] The case is aluminum.
[8:06] Very neat.
[8:08] What else?
[8:10] Oh, they also sent me this USB-C power meter.
[8:12] Now this is definitely going to be useful if you need to measure the power consumption
[8:16] of connected USB device.
[8:17] We probably will take a look in a little bit.
[8:20] And by the way, where we'll also include a special USB-C cable.
[8:24] Now this is not just any USB-C cable, it's a magnetic cable.
[8:28] Supposedly it will maintain the shape once you coil it up.
[8:31] This definitely makes it easy for storage and cable management.
[8:34] Let's take a look.
[8:39] So this is a cable.
[8:40] Yep, you can uncoil it.
[8:41] And you can see that once uncoiled is actually pretty long.
[8:45] That's very useful.
[8:47] But you can also just let it collapse.
[8:50] And it coils back to this really compact package.
[8:55] Now I think this is actually really cool concept.
[8:59] Let me know what you think.
[9:01] You know what?
[9:02] Let's actually use this supplied power adapter along with a cable and a power meter.
[9:06] And let's charge up the battery pack.
[9:08] So we can quickly see how well everything works.
[9:10] So let me plug in the adapter.
[9:14] And I think we can plug in the power meter here.
[9:29] You can see.
[9:33] All right, I have to adjust the exposure and ISO speed so that is no longer flickering.
[9:38] But you can see here, this is the USB-C power meter.
[9:42] But no, the power bank is being charged by this power adapter.
[9:46] Let me show you the output voltage, the current, and the wattage.
[9:50] Very good.
[9:52] Thanks, we're wolf for sending me these goodies.
[9:55] Again, their website is linked in the video description below.
