[0:00] So I'm definitely marking this video sponsored, but I was sent a set of these werewolf power things

[0:07] I don't know exactly how to describe them, but they make some like power banks

[0:11] This is a MagSafe one and power supplies and things like that

[0:15] But what interested me somebody emailed me about this?

[0:18] I don't know a month ago and it was a kickstarter that I think is complete now

[0:22] These are actually shipping and they're I'll put a link. It's called the V-flex. I think it is I'll put a link to this stuff

[0:29] It's from a little startup called werewolf, but you'll notice that these are like DC connections

[0:36] So there's a bunch of different ends if you deal with like mini PCs and

[0:42] SBCs and things like that you're gonna end up with a collection of power adapters

[0:46] With these types of ends and you always have the one that you don't need

[0:50] So you always have like the skinnier one when you actually need the fat one and

[0:54] The other problem that I have is a lot of times my power supplies will be the right connector

[0:59] But it's 12 volts and it needs to be 24 or it's 12 and it needs to be 19 or whatever and

[1:05] This this V-flex thing is made to be like a universal USB-C-based

[1:11] solution for any voltage and the way that that works is they have these little adapters

[1:16] These are USB-C to this little end that they have and that plugs into one of these guys

[1:23] So I actually had a project where it at home

[1:27] I forgot to bring home my power supply so I couldn't finish this there

[1:30] I I found this on big clive. This is like a solder together DIY clock kit

[1:35] And I wanted to put this together for some fun with one Hertz gear

[1:41] Because this this basically is a glorified counter. It counts up to 60 then it counts up to 60 and it counts up to 24 and

[1:48] Has a whole clock board that you solder together yourself. So finish this during the snow and

[1:55] I couldn't turn it on and I brought it here

[1:58] And I was just going to connect it to my power supply

[2:00] But I thought this is the perfect time to finally test this thing out that I've had sitting in a box here for a while

[2:05] They make this adapter that goes from their little little USB-C box here to just ground and positive connection

[2:13] So I can connect that into here and to show how this works

[2:17] I'm going to program this to be five volts

[2:20] So it'll take any USB-C input and say hey negotiate five volts and give me five volts for this clock

[2:25] Which is what I think this clock is supposed to take it says right here. Yeah, five volts

[2:30] So I'm gonna do that really quick and show you how this works

[2:33] It's just a little web app and I think you can even self-host the web app

[2:37] It just uses web zero the program

[2:39] You need to have a USB-C cable that's capable of passing data and they include some of these in their kit

[2:44] That are good for that

[2:46] But I've noticed that I've had to go back and like

[2:49] retest all my cables because some will carry the serial connection fine other ones don't

[2:54] And that's besides all the cables that do like 100 watts or 60 watts or barely anything

[3:01] So yeah, USB-C cables are annoying, but at least this is I think a way to make them a little bit less annoying for power delivery

[3:09] So I'm just gonna plug this

[3:11] Straight into my Mac and little blue light comes on and for web serial support

[3:16] You have to use Chrome or I think that Microsoft Edge might support it or any Chrome based browser

[3:21] I can't do it in Safari

[3:24] But you go to vflex.app and it shows that I'm connected to this little guy and it's set to 12 volts

[3:30] So that would fry my clock right now. I'm going to click modify and change this to five volts save

[3:37] And I think this should be fine, but yeah, like that's the whole interface. There's some other stuff in here

[3:43] You can have an account. I don't know what you'd need the account for maybe there's future functionality

[3:48] But I'm just doing this as a guest basically

[3:50] But each of these devices, I guess has its own little unique serial number. Anyway, so there we go

[3:56] Let's close out of here and before I plug this into there

[4:00] Let's see let's see if this little power meter

[4:03] They included a little power meter. I guess for making sure that the things are the way they say they are

[4:09] Let's make sure this power meter says five volts now. Yep 5.21

[4:14] So this should work now

[4:17] If I take this guy

[4:20] I'll have five volts this these only go one way. There's a little key here

[4:23] I'm gonna take it and plug it in and now we should be getting five volts there

[4:28] I think what I'll do is I'll actually unplug this for now

[4:32] Just because I don't like having it plugged in while I'm connecting things together

[4:40] okay

[4:41] so moment of truth and

[4:46] This is just plugged into my computer

[4:50] there we go

[4:51] so

[4:54] Two good things that I've discovered one. This is working

[4:58] Two this is using less than a lot of power and three apparently all of my soldering work to this is the first time

[5:06] I've turned this on so three things. I'm happy about there and

[5:10] It's kind of a cool setup and

[5:12] I'm gonna be testing some of their other stuff and you might see it in some other projects that I work on

[5:17] But it is it's extremely handy especially for the fact that if you get one of these kits

[5:22] You have all these different connections that you might need

[5:26] And just having them in a little bag on my workbench is nice because it's not fun to always have to use a DC power supply to do all this stuff

[5:35] Anyway, yeah, that's level two Jeff for you. I'll link to these

[5:38] I'm marking the video sponsored because these were sent to me

[5:42] But I might order another set for home at this point

[5:45] I'm I was actually talking to where will a couple days ago

[5:50] And they sent over a kit for my dad to test too

[5:53] So you might see these on the gearling engineering sometime too and you will definitely see this clock again at some point
